In brief
Cardiology Academia is an academic platform for healthcare professionals. The content on this website supports learning. It does not replace clinical judgement, and it is not medical advice for patients.
On this page8 sections
01For healthcare professionals
Lectures, presentations, articles, guideline summaries, case discussions and infographics are prepared for doctors and other qualified healthcare professionals as continuing education. They assume clinical training and should be read in that context.
02Not a substitute for clinical judgement
Every patient is different. Decisions about diagnosis and treatment must be made by the treating clinician, after a full assessment of the patient, using current guidelines, local protocols and the prescribing information for each medicine.
Doses, indications and approvals mentioned in the content may differ in India, or may have changed since the content was published.
03Calculators
The calculators use published formulas and scores, which are referenced on each calculator page. Please keep in mind that they:
- estimate risk or values for groups of patients, not certainties for an individual;
- are only as reliable as the values entered, so check units and inputs carefully;
- were often developed in other populations and may over- or under-estimate risk in Indian patients;
- support, and never replace, clinical judgement.
Where a calculator has been reviewed by our faculty, its page shows who reviewed it and when.
04Guidelines and evidence change
Medical knowledge changes quickly. Content reflects the evidence and guidelines available when it was prepared, and each item shows its date. Always check the latest version of a guideline before applying it.
05Views of speakers and authors
Lectures and articles express the views of their speakers and authors. They do not necessarily represent the views of Cardiology Academia. Speakers are asked to declare any conflicts of interest.
06Patient privacy in case discussions
Cases are shared for education with patient-identifying details removed, and with patient consent where required.
07Patients and the public
If you are not a healthcare professional, please do not use this content to diagnose or treat yourself or anyone else. Speak to your doctor.
In a medical emergency, call 108 for an ambulance or 112, or go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
08No liability
To the extent the law allows, Cardiology Academia, its governing council, faculty and contributors accept no liability for decisions made using the content on this website. Please also read our Terms of use.
